Grenade starts Codex with its own hooks, so your phone knows when Codex is working, when it needs an approval and when it has finished. Read what it said or the whole terminal, and answer by typing or by voice.
Grenade starts Codex with a few hooks, passed for that session only, so the phone hears it start a turn, finish and stop on Esc, and shows what you asked and what Codex said as cards, read from its own transcript. The first Codex session asks once to trust them, on a card on your phone: tap Trust. Codex's approvals are answered in its terminal, with the key row or by typing; the cards for permissions, questions and plans are for Claude Code.

Not installed yet? Two steps on the Mac.
Yes. Grenade starts the Codex CLI that is on your Mac, with the login it already has. There is no Grenade account and no key to set.
No. Its hooks are passed to Codex for that session only. The first Codex session asks once whether to trust them, on a card on your phone.
Yes, in Codex's own terminal, which the phone shows in full. Enter, Esc, Tab and the arrows sit on a key row above the keyboard. The cards you answer with a tap are for Codex's trust dialogs and for Claude Code.
Codex Remote reaches Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app. Grenade reaches the Codex CLI in your terminal, with no account. The two side by side.
Yes. Sessions in the same folder form a group, whatever runs in them, and each one shows a color for working, finished or waiting on you.
The agent runs on your Mac as it always does, and Grenade adds no server that can read it. What your phone shows of the terminal travels end-to-end encrypted, directly on your Wi‑Fi or through a relay that sees only encrypted bytes.
The session keeps running: it lives in tmux on your Mac, so closing a window ends nothing. The phone reconnects by itself and shows where the session is now.
